Starting in 1810 as a property and casualty insurance company, The Hartford has been helping people with more than just insurance.

After starting as a fire insurance company, The Hartford made the switch to cars in 1913. Seven years later, the insurance company protected baseball legend Babe Ruth with a policy as he continued down his path to success. Sometime later, The Hartford protected President Dwight Eisenhower’s 190-acre farm. With this ever-changing and historical trajectory, The Hartford has been named World’s Most Ethical Company® 13 times over the years by Ethisphere.

This purpose-driven insurance leader takes pride in its customer service excellence, sustainability practices, trust, and integrity. Some of the pillars on which The Hartford stands include underwriting human achievement, leading with integrity, advancing sustainability, driving diversity, equity and inclusion, empowering communities, and making an impact.

For the last eight years, The Hartford has been voted a Military-Friendly Employer because of its support by providing the military community with career opportunities. The Hartford has always boasted admiration for the military community because of its leadership skills, strength, and strategic thinking. By creating a “Military Community Network,” The Hartford has shown how dedicated it is to helping veterans get back on their feet and create a career outside of the military. This Employee Resource Group is full of volunteers who assist military members and their families through mentoring and support.

In addition, The Hartford recently became the Title Sponsor of The National Adaptive Sports Competition. Through their partnership with Move United, The Hartford hopes to grow opportunities for those with physical disabilities to be able to compete.

“We are dedicated to raising awareness of adaptive sports and expanding access to sports participation for people of all abilities,” said The Hartford’s Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Claire Burns in a press release. “We are proud to be the title sponsor of The Hartford Nationals and remain steadfast in our long-standing commitment to advancing the adaptive sports movement.”
